Our volunteers are an important part of the East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre. They visit residential homes, sheltered units, nursing homes, hospitals, Day Centres and housebound people to establish a friendly and helpful relationship with hard of hearing residents/individuals.
Visits are usually made on a monthly basis and volunteers dispense hearing aid batteries, carry out routine hearing aid maintenance and inform clients of support services such as lipreading classes, assistive devices, Adult Social Care support and other voluntary organisations. The East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre provides all training (usually four hours over two sessions) and necessary tools. Volunteers can claim travel expenses; the use of a car is not essential.
We hold regular volunteer support meetings where you can meet other volunteers and discuss any queries you may have over tea and biscuits. Volunteers are needed in all areas of East Sussex, so if you think you could help we would love to hear from you.
